Applicants must have the following training and or accreditations in order to be eligible for membership

Members must have completed a full training course (100 to 180 Hours) as provided by organizations or colleges, approved by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration.

Also,
Members must have successfully passed the official certification examination for language proficiency of the related language for which they intend to provide interpretation. These are ILSAT or CILISAT.
And/ or,

Interpreters must be accredited by the Ministry of Attorney General, with at least 3 years of experience.
Or

Interpreters must be accredited by the Immigration and Refugee Board, with at least 3 years of experience.
